Paris, Oct. 4 (CNA) Taiwanese fashion brand Shiatzy Chen once again succeeded in drawing attention at Paris Fashion Week, with its spring-summer ready-to-wear collection the only Taiwan brand to be invited to the international event this year.

Shiatzy Chen presented its latest collection, which combines the Qing dynasty's snuff bottle culture and modern design concepts, at the nine-day fashion event that concluded Tuesday at the Tennis History Museum in Paris.

The 2012 spring/summer series, titled "Snuff Bottle," features satin dresses that adopts the facets of Chinese craftsmanship such as burnishing, sculpting, painting and calligraphy used to decorate the tiny bottles.

Shiatzy Chen said it has utilized translucent glossy organza and satin to present the luminous character of porcelain and glass snuff bottles.

It also has used vintage-influenced lace and flower-print jacquard to depict the painted patterns on the snuff bottles, the company said.

Brand designer and founder Wang Chen Tsai-hsia, a doyenne of Taiwan's fashion industry for years, made a brief appearance to greet audiences at the end of the show.

Shiatzy Chen, founded in 1978, made its debut at the event in autumn 2008 to become only the second Taiwanese brand to take part in the international event.

Paris Fashion Week began in 1973 and is held twice each year -- in spring and autumn.

Fashion weeks -- the world's most prominent fashion events -- are also held in other couture cities such as Milan, London and New York. (By Luo Yuan-shao and Hanna Liu) ENDITEM/J
